We are excited to share with you the 2020-2022 Combined Annual Report of the Northern Healthy Communities Partnership (NCHP)!
The Northern Healthy Communities Partnership (NHCP) is a network of organizations working proactively to improve the health of northern Saskatchewan residents by influencing the conditions in which they live, learn, work and play. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic the Northern Healthy Communities Partnership (NHCP) had to modify its strategy in order to balance the pandemic response with health promotion initiatives. We are pleased to share with you the NHCP 2020-2022 Combined Annual Report, which summarizes the shared efforts and successes of our partner organizations over the last two years. Highlights from this year include:
Holding the “I am Active” Physical Activity Bingo Challenge to encourage active living.
Partnering with ski clubs across northern Saskatchewan to introduce skiing and make skiing more accessible to families, children and youth.
Continued work on the development of resources to encourage physical activity in the workplace.
Increasing the reach of the Babies, Books and Bonding program to support early literacy among more northern Saskatchewan children.
Complete revision and distribution of the 4 year old early literacy booklet, a supporting resource provided at the 4 year old child health appointment.
Incorporation of more early literacy resources (books) with Indigenous representation (content and language).
Creation and sharing of a database of resources and materials to support the adoption of positive youth development across northern Saskatchewan.
Production and promotion of various videos showcasing northern Saskatchewan youth, youth mentors and mentees, as well as traditions synonymous with communities living in northern Saskatchewan.
Gardening promotion through the advertising and distribution of the Gardening Manual, as well as ordering of gardening seeds for distribution in the spring.
SNMP workshops hosted virtually throughout the pandemic.
Continued support of prenatal education through creation of videos, supporting resources and the More Milk Soon initiative.
Continued promotion of the BITC training and the K-Grade 9 lesson plans developed.
We know that people in northern Saskatchewan face many challenges to better health. Successfully addressing these challenges requires the coordinated efforts of many people. Through evidence-informed, collaborative, collective efforts, NHCP partner organizations are able to have a greater impact on the populations they serve, leading to better health for exceptional value.
Please share this annual report widely and feel free to direct any questions to us.
We look forward to continuing to work in partnership, building healthier communities together.
On behalf of NHCP,
Kevin Mageto and Rochelle Browett
