Stressors and Triggers

Women may smoke as a means of coping with stress. There are alternatives ways to deal with stress such as:

  • Physical activity – Adults are recommended to accumulate at least 150 minutes of moderate– to vigorous–intensityaerobic physical activity per week, in bouts of ten minutes or more (Canadian Physical Activity Guidelines) Yoga and stretching
  • Eating a healthy diet
  • Getting a good rest
  • Learn relaxation techniques or exercises
  • Exhalation breathing
  • Meditation
  • Visualization
